WHAT IS BAPTISM?
Baptism identifies the new believer with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is an outward sign of an inward change.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4
“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures”
WHY DOES BAPTISM MATTER?
It is BIBLICAL. Jesus calls us to be baptized, and modeled it personally.
It is GOING PUBLIC with the decision you’ve made to invite Jesus into your life.
It has a RIPPLE EFFECT of inspiring faith in the lives around you.
It TELLS THE STORY of God’s amazing grace at work in your life. Telling how once you were dead in your sin, and now you’ve been raised to new life through His grace and forgiveness.
“And this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ…” 1 Peter 3:21
For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. Colossians 2:12-13
WHO CAN BE BAPTIZED?
Baptism is for anyone who has made a decision to invite Jesus into their life as Lord and Savior.
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38
In the account of Phillip baptizing the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8:36-39) we’re reminded that baptism was never meant to be complicated, or difficult. This is why we don’t run people through a Baptism course or litmus test of their faith, if you’ve made a decision for Jesus, there is nothing that should stop you from going public with that decision.
And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name. Acts 22:16
ASKING FOR A FRIEND?
Can children be baptized? Yes, if they are old enough to understand the process of Salvation, and have made a decision to invite Jesus into their life. Because of this we do not baptize infants, as they cannot make a decision for Jesus. We do offer parents of toddlers and infants opportunities throughout the year for child dedication. Child dedication is the act of committing a child to God, and promising to pray and raise them in a Christ-centered home.
If I was baptized before, can I be baptized again? Sometimes if a person was baptized as a kid before they really understood the step they were taking or they feel so removed from their life before, being baptized again is an option.
We have several water baptism opportunities throughout the year. If you are interested in being water baptized, please fill out the form and someone from our team will make contact with you.
